6. Yoga detox

In yoga, detoxification involves six techniques known as Shat Kriyas. These methods—Neti, Dhauti, Nauli, Basti, Kapalbhati, and Trataka—help cleanse the body physically and mentally. They’re taught during advanced 300-hour yoga teacher training to promote a healthy body and calm mind. Practicing these techniques enhances overall well-being by removing toxins and improving emotional balance. There is a concept of Shat Karma that comes from Hatha Yoga aimed to cleanse the body and mind, for higher stages of Yoga Practices. The six processes are:

  • Neti (Nasal Cleansing)

Neti involves cleansing the nasal passages which helps to remove unnecessary mucus and heals brain power. There are major two types of neti they are ; Jala Neti ( cleansing by lukewarm salty water) and Sutra Neti (cleansing the nasal passage using rubber catheter or cotton thread )

  • Dhauti (Cleansing of the Digestive System)

Most of the toxins gather in our digestive system so practice of Dhauti includes cleanse the digestive tract and stomach in order to remove the toxic. There are various process of dhuti including Shankhaprakshalana, Vamana Dhauti, Vastra Dhauti, Danda Dhauti, Agnisara kriya etc

  • Basti (Colon Cleansing)

Basti is a process of cleansing the colon by irrigating pure water inside it to remove the stuck stool and toxicity.

  • Nauli (Abdominal Churning)

Nauli is the process of rolling abdominal muscles to improve the digestive fire and overall digestive health. It is classified in three parts: Madhyama Nauli, Vama Nauli and Dakshina Nauli.

  • Kapalbhati

 Kapalbhati is a cleansing process of the brain and digestion by means of breathing process. This process involves the passive inhalation and active exhalation so that you can throw out more and more Carbon Dioxide in order to take out the toxic from the body.

  • Trataka (Concentrated Gazing)

Trataka is a process to fix constant gaze in a single point to achieve focus, mind and concentration power. Among different gazing processes, candle gaze is a popular and effective process.

8. Mudra & Banda

Mudras are hand, head, postural, and lock gestures in yoga that help channel energy to enhance bodily harmony. Integrating them into yoga, meditation, and breathing boosts their benefits.
